William joined the firm as a Tax Compliance Associate. After graduating, from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Accounting, William worked for his family's business for a few years before deciding to pursue new opportunities in the accounting field. In his free time, William explores his interest in investing and likes to conduct research on the markets.
Alaina handles the data entry at the firm for clients and prospective clients. Although this is her first time in data entry, Alaina is detail-oriented and attentive when it comes to her work. She earned her Associates' Degree at the Anne Arundel Community College and is currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree at the University of Maryland.
Alexis is a PhD candidate at the University of Georgia, where she also recently taught courses and worked as a facilities manager. With a desire to help the community and those around her, Alexis continues taking on roles and projects that challenge and inspire her.
Amanda M. Castillo Casiano is an attorney-at-law with experience in Federal and Local Taxation, Administrative, Contracts, and Corporate Law. During her years as a practicing attorney, she has worked with Corporate and Individual clients in tax controversy matters, and complying with Tax Incentives from the Department of Economic Development and Commerce of Puerto Rico. She has also assisted clients in their general compliance matters with the Puerto Rico Department of State, Puerto Rico Department of Treasury, Puerto Rico General Services Administration, Comptroller’s Office, Puerto Rico Department of Labor and Human Resources, Puerto Rico Municipal Revenue Collection Center, State’s Insurance Fund Corporation, Office of the Commissioner of Financial Institutions, Department of Consumer Affairs, several municipalities Permits Offices and the Puerto Rico Department of Health.
Ambar is a Law Clerk at the firm and helps with client and prospective client cases. Ambar recently graduated from the University of New Mexico with a political science degree. She is currently working on her law school application and plans to study at the University of New Mexico School of Law.
Bob joined the firm as a Document Management Associate in 2022. He drafts the engagement agreements and delivers them to potential clients. Prior to joining the firm, Bob was in the Navy for 20 years and was deployed 10 times. He worked in Nuclear Power as an Electrician supplied electrical power to aircraft carriers. In his free time, Bob enjoys watching baseball and football games, volunteering at the Virginia Beach K9 Justice League fostering local shelter dogs and preparing them for adoption.
Brandee is an Administrative Assistant that has a diverse background in client services, accounts receivables and payables as well as communication with clients. At Strategic Tax Planning, Brandee serves an important role on the Assemblies team, working with other team members, clients and dealing with the IRS.
Bridget Padilla is our Intake Assistant Manager who helps manage our intake team. She currently speaks with our potential clients, helping qualify them. Bridget has been in sales for over 5 years now and has managed teams. She has two kids at home, along with two Siberian huskies. With her time off she works on her clothing boutique she owns with her mom and sister.
Throughout my studies in undergrad, I worked in the finance industry at JP Morgan Chase and TD Bank. Upon graduating undergrad, I continued my education by attending law school. I took an unorthodox approach to law school as I enrolled in a 2 year accelerated honors program, allowing me to graduate a year earlier than a typical law school program would allow. Throughout my studies, I explored various aspects of law while also utilizing the skills I accrued in the business and finance industry. I was a member of the Honor Society, Trial Advocacy and Practice Society competitor and treasurer. Additionally, I graduated second in my class. My legal career has involved both transactional and litigation work.
Caitlin is a case manager for clients and prospective clients at the firm. She has experience as a Customer Service Representative / Processing Specialist for multiple Insurance and Benefit Administration companies. After working for the insurance companies, Caitlin has several years of processing and data analyst experience from when she worked as a Mortgage Loan Processor, eventually becoming a Processing Team Lead in. She attended Townson University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. When she is not working, Caitlin enjoys going to the beach, being on the water, taking the boat out, and spending quality time with friends and family.
San Diego State University Political Science Graduate (BA), currently based out of Annapolis, Maryland. Caroline has a wide array of experience working in Human Resources management, writing both policy briefs and evaluations, data entry and analytics, in addition to professional experience with sales and consulting.
Chad brings over 15 years of business management experience to Strategic Tax Planning, as well as 18 months solely focused on the Employee Retention Tax Credit. He has found a true passion in helping smaller businesses succeed and enjoys reviews and feedback on what businesses are able to do with any kind of refund or grant.
Chanel has 12+ years of leadership and admin experience in a variety of roles and industries including education, sales and small business. She specializes in small business management. Chanel attended Anne Arundel Communtiy College in Arnold MD and studied Education.
Chris Mulderrig has over ten years of client relations including significant sales and project management experience. Chris works with businesses throughout the United States to help make them aware of the Employee Retention Credit and to facilitate their refund estimates.
Christina was born, raised and currently still resides in Mt. Airy, Maryland with her husband, 4 daughters, and two cats. She graduated from South Carroll High School in 1999. She worked in the healthcare field until her first daughter was born and then decided to be a stay-at-home mom. After completing her degree at Carroll Community College in 2019, she took a job with a mental health care professional as a medical biller and supervisor and started working for STP in 2022. Christina is a Girl Scout leader for two troops and loves being on her husband's family farm as much as possible.
Christina was born and raised in Annapolis, Maryland. She has recently completed her B.S. in Environmental Science and Policy at the University of Maryland College Park. Christina has had a passion for volunteer work all of her life, some of which has included medical aid in Northern Thailands, work with Surfrider Foundation, and local Annapolis fundraising. She has recently graduated from the University of Maryland is excited to discover and try new things including learning with Strategic Tax Planning.In her free time, Christina enjoys traveling, volunteering, skiing, hiking, and surfing. She has volunteered for medical service in the rural villages of Northern Thailand, beach clean-ups and fundraising for the Surfrider Foundation, and local Annapolis festivals.
Daisy works in Data compliance as a Case Manager. With over 5 years of experience in customer relations and property management, she aims to deliver a first-class experience to foster strong relationships with her clients. In her free time, Daisy enjoys exploring different neighborhoods in Chicago with her pup Oreo.
Dana Purkey joined Strategic Tax Planning in 2022 as the Client Services Manager. Dana holds a Bachelor’s degree from East Tennessee State University and has contributed to sales and project management oversight in prior positions before joining Strategic Tax Planning. Dana grew up in suburban Maryland and currently resides in Frederick, Maryland with her dog Bella.
After graduating from Towson University with a degree in business management, Dan work in multifamily property management for 6 years. He has always had an interest in personal finance and wealth management and joined Strategic Tax Planning to move his career in line with is interests. For STP, Dan works mainly in data compliance helping clients submit the proper documents needed for the ERC. Outside of work Dan enjoys playing guitar, video games, and traveling.
After graduation, Danielle started her career in manufacturing as a staff accountant in charge of corporate accounts payables and accounts receivables. She gained a promotion as an accountant in this position, which was a stepping stone that advanced her career in accounting.
I am extremely passionate about problem solving. My favorite part about being a law clerk is being presented with an issue and being able to directly find results for the client. I enjoy spending time with my team that I work with and being able to work together to achieve our goals.
Emily works in the firm’s operations department. She earned her bachelor’s degree in May 2020 at the height of the pandemic from West Virginia University with a major in Philosophy emphasizing in Pre-Law and a minor in Business Economics. During her studies, she was active in the school's community by being a leader in both the Delta Gamma Fraternity as well as the WVU Philosophy Club. Since graduating college, she has had multiple successful roles in management, administration, and sales in both the mortgage and tech industries. Through those roles she has gained a great deal of experience in team management, operations coordination, customer relations, and extensive knowledge in multiple fields of business.
A Tax Director experienced in tax and financial executive leadership, Erin has helped businesses minimize their income tax burden and improve financial operations for almost 15 years. She delights in connecting businesses with credits and incentives available to their operations. As the leader of Business Services for a multi-billion dollar, industry-leading company, Erin drove well over $20M in direct cash savings while negotiating and managing a tax incentives portfolio worth over $60M.
Holly is a licensed CPA in Washington state and licensed attorney in Washington, Idaho and the US Tax Court. Holly graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelors of Arts in Accounting and Information Systems and became a CPA shortly thereafter. Holly has advised businesses on tax decisions and prepared many returns over the years.
Jacob provides tax consulting services at the firm. He worked at the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic when he was at the University of Baltimore. Jacob is currently the associate editor of the University of Baltimore Law Forum. Outside of school and work he enjoys spending time outside. Jacob also likes to grow much of my own food in my garden and spends time hunting and fishing.
Janro has a proven background in sales and marketing, with a wealth of financial experience gained over the course of their career. One notable highlight is his previous role at Merrill Lynch, where he worked as a financial advisor for several years. In this position, he provided expert advice and guidance to clients, helping them to manage their wealth and achieve their financial goals.
Jenny Jimenez is finishing her senior year at George Mason University, where she has learned various skills, from statistics to efficiently listening to clients. She works part-time as a Financial Well-Being Peer Mentor for George Mason's Student Support Advocacy Center. She helps advise upcoming high school graduates and their families on applying to FAFSA, reviewing scholarship essays, informing direct and indirect educational costs, and creating a budget for one's financial well-being. She is excited to begin working with STP, learn new skills, and apply her skills from another discipline. Jenny enjoys spending quality time with her partner and sweet furry pup, Leia. When Jenny is not working or doing school work, she creates 3D projects out of cardstock with her Cricut maker!
Jessica is an intern at the firm and specializes in legal research and data entry to prepare employee retention credit eligibility for current and prospective clients. She currently attends Loyola University Maryland majoring in Accounting with minors in Philosophy and Asian Studies. Jessica is actively pursuing her CPA license. In her free time, Jessica enjoys reading, traveling to new places, and spending time with her dogs.
Jordan has a broad spectrum of experience in passthrough entity taxation, international tax, and high-net-worth individuals with a focus on consulting and providing exceptional service to his clients. Jordan previously coached collegiate and professional football prior to changing careers and has enjoyed working with and mentoring current and former athletes.
Joseph Zuber has over 20 years of distinguished career performance developing and managing client relationships for large corporations (Citi and GE) as well as a financial planning firm. His career started in the retail banking industry where he worked in various departments from quality control, marketing, analytics forecasting, field sales, client development, and portfolio management. Joseph collaborated directly with client’s C-level execs, department heads and team leaders in various industries, such as auto after-market, HVAC, furniture, and retail wholesale stores.
Joshua was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. He lived in Michigan where he enjoyed playing hockey before joining his parents in Naples, FL. James began his post-secondary academic career at FGCU after moving to Florida. He enjoys playing golf, staying active, and trying new foods with new people!
Julia finished her bachelors degree in Legal Studies in 2022 from the University of Maryland Global Campus. She has a background in paralegal work and working with animals. When Julia is not at work, she enjoys painting marine life and landscapes, as well as sea glass hunting. She also spends her free time volunteering at her local arts center.
Keeley is a dedicated and accomplished 2L student at the LSU Paul M Hebert Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She graduated with a BA in Political Science in August of 2023 after completing the rigorous 3+3 Pre-law program which allowed her to begin law school after two years of undergraduate studies.
Prior to joining Strategic Tax Planning, Kelly spent 20+ years in hospitality purchasing/contracting for major hotel brands along with Multi Family Residences. Project management for hotel new builds, renovations & PIP's working with GC, Owners, Designers, and vendors. She is excited to meet and work with business owners to maximize the ERC.
Kim joined Strategic Tax Planning in 2022. She was born and raised in Massachusetts, where she resides with her two children. She has 10+ years experience in customer service & retail management. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as relaxing by the ocean or with a good book.
Prior to joining Strategic Tax Planning, Kurt started his career in public accounting at KPMG and then EY. Subsequently, he spent 9 years in corporate finance and client growth at a middle market company headquartered in Annapolis, Maryland. Kurt has a B.S. in Accounting from Saint Francis University (PA). Kurt and his wife have two sons and reside in Severna Park, Maryland.
Lael has enjoyed working in corporate finance and financial services in an accounting, auditing, internal controls capacity for the past 22 years. Lael's career has offered her invaluable experience in many areas of finance from payroll accounting, to general ledger, sales and use tax, and domestic banking.The past twelve years, Lael worked closely with finance teams in the corporate world as well as the finance industry, helping to document process, identify gaps, develop improvements and efficiencies in process, and develop internal controls framework to assure on going efficiencies and accountability across all layers of business. She has worked in Internal Audit teams to perform corporate and financial institution audits as well as coordinate with External Audit and Regulatory Compliance offices.
Lauren is a case manager for clients and prospective clients at the firm. Lauren has over 10 years of experience in the financial/mortgage industry. While working as Mortgage Loan Processor, she received multiple awards for closing the most loans month over month. Lauren studied at Carroll County Community College. In her free time, Lauren loves to travel, going to the beach, spend time with her family and friends, and most of all, spend time with her dog, Sophie.
Luis is a Law Clerk at the Firm and assists with clients and prospective clients. He is currently a rising third-year law student with an interest in health law and public health emergency management. Conducting Employee Retention Credit (ERC) research provides an engaging crossover between tax law and public health emergency law. His professional experience includes working at a health law firm in Atlanta, Georgia, and at Emory University's institutional review board. Luis worked in the Medical-Legal Partnership Clinic as a student attorney during the 2021-2023 school year with a focus on Social Security benefits for Baltimore City residents living with HIV/AIDS.
Madison Bee is a 3L at Howard University School of Law where she has concentrated her education on tax law. She is currently a teaching assistant for Federal Income Tax for the fall 2022 semester and will be the teaching assistant for State and Local Tax for the Spring 2023 semester. She has excelled in federal income taxation, state and local taxation, partnership taxation, and corporate income taxation. In the future, she plans to get an LLM in taxation.
Matthew Costa is a CPA and Certified Financial Planner™ with over 14 years of financial advisory and tax experience. Matt was a Manager at RSM, a top 5 national advisory and accounting firm. Matt graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Masters of Accountancy and a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration with Majors in Finance, Accounting, and a directed study in Economics in 2010. Matt serves businesses and individuals holistically for their wealth management, tax compliance, and overall financial and tax planning.
Matt brings more than two decades of professional experience in tax controversy, accounting, financial planning, and small business management. His experience working with individuals and small business owners gives him a unique perspective on the tax-credit issues.
As a dedicated and detail-oriented accounting professional, Megan Sterner has been meeting the accounting needs of businesses of all sizes for the past ten years. She currently works as a senior accountant for Lombardo Ayers and Company, LLC located in Annapolis, Maryland handling financial services for small to large businesses. Her experience and expertise reside in comprehensive business consulting, CFO services and forensic accounting. Prior to becoming an accounting professional, Megan spent five years in a supervisory position managing human resources and internal logistics. With this experience and a strong passion for business, she can apply her skills and forensic consulting acumen to a broad range of client industries. To further her professional skills, Megan is currently enrolled in a Master’s in Accounting Program, and upon completion, will be sitting for the CPA Exam.
Michael Hudak serves as a tax consultant with Strategic Tax Planning (STP) and utilizes his extensive legal and business experience to assist clients around the country with developing and implementing strategic priorities and solutions within their business-related matters.
Michael Brewer is a Director with 30 years of experience specializing in audit, taxation, and consulting for commercial and not-for-profit entities. He has extensive experience working with construction companies, as well as clients in subcontracting, government contracting, real estate, manufacturing, wholesale, distribution, service organizations, and not-for-profit clients. In previous roles, Michael has also served as the Director of Internal Audit for the second largest food distributor in the U.S., US Foodservice, with annual revenue in excess of $20 billion. He was an integral leader in US Foodservice becoming compliant under the Sarbanes-Oxley compliance rules and assisting the organization in remediating numerous material weaknesses in their internal control system. Michael helped to design, implement and test the key controls of this large, national food service entity. Michael was also a lead manager on the Enron Task Force prosecuting the leadership of Enron after the collapse of Enron. He also has been involved in troubled company turnaround management, debt restructuring, merger & acquisition due diligence and integration, process reengineering, litigation support for contract disputes, and fraudulent activities. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Texas and Maryland and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and the former Treasurer of Home Builder’s Care Foundation, a 501(3) organization associated with the Maryland Building Industry Association. He is also a prior member of the Leadership Committee of the Baltimore Institute of Internal Auditors. Michael has served as an Education Advisor and Adjunct Instructor at the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, and currently is an Advisor and Mentor to the Georgetown University Venture Lab and Startup Accelerator.
Natalie most recently worked in the mortgage industry as a Loan Processor. She is very detail orientated and provides exceptional customer service to all of her clients. Natalie lives in Virginia Beach, VA and when she is not at work, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her daughter. Natalie studied at Tidewater Community College.
Tasked with managing over 400 rental properties, 11 condominium associations, and office staff including property repairs, bill pay, budget planning, monthly meeting planning, annual meeting planning, direct contact with the board of directors for each association, confidential documents, condo law, housing law, etc.
Pam Thornton is originally from E. TN and has lived in the Atlanta area for 35 yrs. Before joining Strategic Tax Planning, Pam worked for ATT as a customer service representative for Inbound calls and later worked with McKesson in the Health Information Systems field. Pam enjoys spending time with her husband, pup and of course her family, and enjoys doing anything outdoors.
Reid came to America from New Zealand in 2016 to play tennis at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and a minor in Law and Philosophy, he moved to Washington, D.C., to pursue a law degree at the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law.
Rich Shank dedicated over twenty professional years helping his clients and teams solve financial problems and test compliance with regulations so that upstanding clients have peace of mind that they are prepared to stand-up to any official inquiry. As a certified public accountant and certified management accountant with Big 4 and regional CPA firm experience, Rich worked as an auditor and consultant for private, nonprofit, and public entities while ensuring optimal compliance with federal, state, and local authorities.
Rita joined Strategic Tax Planning as an Intake Specialist in 2022. Prior to joining the firm she was a paralegal specializing in personal injury and medical malpractice. Her years of customer service allows her to provide the best customer service possible to clients and prospective clients. Rita resides in Crofton, MD.
Ruthvik works in the firm’s intake department where he manages the client intake process. He earned his bachelors degree from the Towson University with a major in Economics and minor in Business Administration. Ruthvik resides in Cockeysville, Maryland with his dog, Perseus, and enjoys playing cricket and chess in his free time.
After earning an Associate's Degree in Paralegal Studies at the University of Toledo, I was employed as a Personal Injury Paralegal in Ohio. When my children were younger, I stayed home with them until my youngest started school. At that point, I started work as an Administrative Assistant, then as an Intake Specialist, which brings me to my current position as a Case Manager. I'm excited to learn and grow with the company!
